Limits and conditions
- Encrypted or split archives and compression other than stored/Deflate are not supported
- Up to 5,000 pages, 16 MiB per page and 8 million pixels per image
- CBR, CB7 and CBT use their own archive reading paths

CBZ stores comic pages in a ZIP or ZIP64 archive. The reader opens visible and neighboring images as needed, keeping your comic in the browser.
Common question
Does a large comic decode every page before opening?
No. The reader indexes the archive, then decodes only visible pages and a bounded neighborhood. Offscreen images are released.
