IMPLEMENTATION

Viewers responsible for this format

MOBI packages an ebook in Palm database records. Mobipocket books may use either .mobi or .prc, so both ebook variants share this guide. Older MOBI7 and newer KF8 content differ internally; a joint file can contain both, and Anyfile selects its KF8 reading content when present.

Common question

Can a Mobipocket PRC book open here?

Yes. Mobipocket ebooks can use .prc as well as .mobi. The reader checks the database signature rather than trusting the extension. A Palm application with the same suffix is outside its scope.

Which part of a joint MOBI book is displayed?

When a book contains both older MOBI7 and KF8 representations, the decoder selects KF8. This is one reading view, not a comparison of the two editions.

Can changing a MOBI extension remove protection?

No. Renaming the file does not alter encryption or the internal format. Protected content cannot be read by Anyfile.
