Play MP4 Files Online

MP4 is a media container, not a single codec. Anyfile inspects its tracks and uses the browser media pipeline for verified combinations such as AVC video with AAC-LC audio, including supported audio-only files.

Your file stays on this device

Anyfile reads only the local file you select. Parsing, decoding and rendering happen in this browser tab; the file is not uploaded to Anyfile servers.

What Anyfile can show

  • Verified AVC video and AAC-LC audio combinations
  • Playback controls, duration and seeking
  • Supported audio-only MPEG-4 files

Limits and conditions

  • Playback requires the file's codecs to be supported by the current browser and operating system.
  • An .mp4 extension does not guarantee that its codecs are playable
  • Encrypted media and unsupported track combinations do not play

Common question

Why can one MP4 play while another cannot?

Their containers share an extension, but the internal video and audio codecs can differ and browser codec support is platform-specific.
