Play MKV Videos Online

Matroska can combine many video, audio and subtitle codecs in one file. Anyfile demuxes the selected MKV locally and plays verified primary tracks through WebCodecs rather than uploading or transcoding them on a server.

Your file stays on this device

Anyfile reads only the local file you select. Parsing, decoding and rendering happen in this browser tab; the file is not uploaded to Anyfile servers.

What Anyfile can show

  • Verified AVC, HEVC, VP8, VP9 or AV1 primary video
  • Supported primary audio synchronized locally
  • Duration, seeking and standard playback controls

Limits and conditions

  • A browser with the required WebCodecs decoders is needed.
  • Not every Matroska codec or track arrangement is supported
  • Subtitle rendering and full multi-track selection are not provided

Common question

Does Anyfile convert MKV files before playing them?

No server conversion occurs. The browser demuxes and decodes supported tracks on the current device.
